Polytechnics in Nigeria are institutions of higher learning that award HND Certificates on graduation. 

 Currently the Nigerian Government is making plans for Polytechnics in Nigeria to start awarding National Diploma (ND) and Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) to it's graduates.

 Polytechnics are different from universities because they provide more practical training.
Polytechnics in Nigeria are regulated by the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Education.

 In Nigeria polytechnics are either owned and controlled by private individuals,state government or federal government.
