How To Cook Nigerian Fried Rice 


Already it's a known fact that Nigerians love to party and have
fun,and whenever or wherever you see Nigerians celebrating any occasion you should know that there must be fried rice on the menu to grace the occasion.

This article will teach you how you can easily cook a spicy and tasty Nigerian fried rice within minutes. 
Now let's quickly get to it: 

How To Cook Nigerian Fried Rice 

Literally every Nigerian like fried rice,even those that are picky,there are different ways or methods that you can use to prepare your fried rice that will make it suitable for your taste,you can use the Basmati Rice or Brown Rice,If you are a vegetarian you can choose not to cook with meat.

Non vegetarians can cook with liver,chicken,beef,turkey or even shrimps.

  • Rice (Basmati Rice or Brown Rice) 
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Chicken Broth / Turkey Broth (500 ml)
  • Beef or Cow Liver (100g)
  • Carrots (2 or 3 large sized)
  • Green Peas 
  • Green Bell Pepper( 1 large sized)
  • Curry Powder 
  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • Garlic Powder 
  • Black/White Pepper (1/2 tablespoonful).
  • Salt to taste
  • 12-16 oz vegetables peas,carrots

How To Prepare 

1. Put your chicken/ turkey Etc in a pot,add one stock cube,add some onion slices with a teaspoon of curry and thyme.

2. Allow to simmer for about 10 minutes for your meat to be cooked. 

3. Separate the chicken from the broth using a strainer. 

4. You can also prepare the liver separately if you want to cook with it,prepare the cow liver by cooking it in a pot for about 10 minutes,add seasoning and salt to taste,cut into small cubes and set aside.

5. Parboil the rice.

6. Wash the vegetables,peel the carrots and cut into small cubes.

7. Cut the green pepper and dice too into smaller pieces,ensure that you remove the seeds of the green pepper.
Blanch the vegetables by placing it in a boiling water for about 5 minutes. 

6. Strain out the vegetables and put into a bowl of luke warm water.

7. Pour your chicken stock into a pot and allow it to simmer, while the stock is simmering add your rice, seasoning, garlic powder, curry,onions,salt to taste Etc

8. Pour some quantity of vegetable oil into a large frying pan,let it heat up,add your blanched vegetable and diced cow livers,white/black pepper, curry, garlic,seasoning Etc
Stir for two to three minutes. 

9. Stir-fry the whole contents for 1 or 2 minutes.
Divide  the stir fried vegetables into smaller portions so that you can fry the rice in batches.
10. Pour each portion of stir fried vegetables into a frying pan and then add in some quantity of the cooked rice and stir fry for two to three minutes. 

11. Fry in batches until you have fried all your rice. 

You can also eat your Nigerian fried rice with plantain or moi moi. 

This meal usually contains about 485 kcal (Calories) and takes about 30 - 40 minutes to prepare.
