How To Make Nigerian Bread 

Ingredients 

  • 1½ tablespoon of sugar
  • 1½ tablespoon of butter
  • ½ cup milk
  • 3 cups all-purpose baking flour
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 1 sachet of quick rising yeast
  • Vegetable oil

Tools*
  • 2 Mixing bowls
  • Rolling pin
  • Napkin
  • Baking pan
  • Oven
  • Flat surface (wooden board)

Quick Instructions: 
  • (a) Gently pour 2 cups or 3 cups of flour into a bowl, add sugar, yeast and salt. Go ahead and mix ingredients well.
  • (b) Heat your milk till it’s warm,once it's warm,pour the milk into the flour mixture.
  • (c) Melt your butter,then add it to the mixture,the next step is to stir the mixture until it's sticky and rough.
  • (d) Get a tablespoon,continue adding one tablespoon of flour to the mixture and continue to stir.
  • (e) Continue to stir the mixture until the mixture is smooth, less sticky and much more elastic.

  • (f) The next step is the kneading process,coat your palms and with some flour and begin kneading,this should last for about 10 - 15 minutes.
  • (g) Get a bowl,coat the bowl with cooking oil and put the dough into the bowl,then cover the bowl with a napkin and put in an unheated oven for an hour,this will make the dough to rise to twice its initial size.
  • (h) Take the dough from the bowl,put it on your work surface and punch three to four times,this will make the dough to shrink back to it's normal size.
  • (i) Go ahead and put the dough into a baking pan,then use a rolling pin to roll the dough to the size of the baking pan.
  • (j) Make sure that you tuck the ends underneath and coat the sides and bottom of the pan with vegetable oil.
  • (k) Cover with napkin cover and return into the unheated oven for another 1 hour.
  • (l) Remove the dough again from the oven,get your knife,then make several slashes on top of the dough.
  • (m) Pre heat your oven to up to 375 degrees,don’t put the dough inside the oven yet,once the oven has heated up,go ahead and put your dough inside the oven,allow the dough to bake for about 30 – 40 minutes.
  • (n) Keep on checking the dough till it turns to golden brown color. 
  • (o) After some minutes remove the dough from the and cool for some minutes.
Afterwards your home made soft Nigerian agege bread is ready to be served,you can enjoy your bread with tea and egg or with any soft drink.
