Quick Steps On How To Prepare Your Nigerian Buns 


Ingredients
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon grated lime
  • 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup milk whole or 2%
  • 4 large eggs (Optional) 
  • 2- teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • Oil for deep-frying
  • 1/2 Coconut flakes (Optional)

Quick Instructions

  • (a) Get a medium bowl and mix all the dry ingredients i.e flour baking powder, salt, sugar, grated orange, and nutmeg.
  • (b) Stir in the milk, eggs, vanilla, and coconut flakes and oil,make sure that you mix well until everything has been fully incorporated,after mixing it should be smooth and thick.
  • (c) Pour your vegetable oil in a large pan,make sure the oil rise to at least 3 inches,anything less than that will result in flatter balls,go ahead an place on medium heat.
  • (d) Scoop up the the batter or paste using a spoon or a roundish spatula,go ahead and drop it inside the oil in the shape of a ball. 
  • (e) Make sure you drop it in batches, do not over crowd the pan. 
  • (f) After a couple of minutes the bottom side's color will change to golden brown.
  • (g) Turn the ball over and fry for a few more minutes until the other side is also golden brown.
  • (i) Use a spoon to take the buns out of the oil oil,you can also place them on napkins to soak up some of the excess oil.
  • (j) You have successfully made a Nigerian buns,to make it sweeter you can roll the buns in table or powdered sugar to make it tastier.
